Six levels on the Empathy Journey

  1. 1 Understand Myself Notice and name your feelings, body signals and reactions.
  2. 2 Understand Others Imagine other perspectives — and ask instead of assuming.
  3. 3 Listen with Care Listen fully, ask open questions and reflect back what you heard.
  4. 4 Turn Care into Action Offer help kindly, apologise well and keep healthy boundaries.
  5. 5 Resolve Conflict Calm down, speak with “I” statements and look for fair solutions.
  6. 6 Build a Caring Community Include others, respect differences and make decisions that work for everyone.
